"I can steal anything."
After Gen's bragging lands him in the king's prison, the chances of escape look slim. Then the king's scholar, the magus, needs the thief's skill for a seemingly impossible task - to steal a hidden treasure from another land. To the magus, Gen is just a tool. But Gen is a trickster and a survivor with a plan of his own.
This is the first book of The Queen’s Thief series. I’d finished reading this and the second book as well. The second is much more awesome. I know it’s hard to find this series in normal bookstores but perhaps Kinokuniya has them. Totally worth every dime, buying this book. Recommended to all fantasy-kingdom-adventure-archaic-gods-heroism loving keen readers.
[edited]
Just finished reading the third and the fourth book as well. Might as well promoting all of them, shall we? Okay, readers, the second book is entitled ‘The Queen of Attolia’.
Revenge
When Eugenides (yoo-JEN-ə-deez), the Thief of Eddis, stole Hamiathes's Gift, the Queen of Attolia lost more than a mythical relic. She lost face. Everyone knew that Eugenides had outwitted and escaped her. To restore her reputation and reassert her power, the Queen of Attolia will go to any length and accept any help that is offered...she will risk her country to execute the perfect revenge.
...but
Eugenides can steal anything. And he taunts the Queen of Attolia, moving through her strongholds seemingly at will. So Attolia waits, secure in the knowledge that the Thief will slip, that he will haunt her palace one too many times.
...at what price?
When Eugenides finds his small mountain country at war with Attolia, he must steal a man, he must steal a queen, he must steal peace. But his greatest triumph, and his greatest loss, comes in capturing something that the Queen of Attolia thought she had sacrificed long ago...
Do I really need to put the reviews for the third and fourth book as well? God, this is tormenting. I hate being a spoiler but this series is too good and personally I love the third book the most. I only hope that there will be the fifth book and so on. It must be. I sensed there’s something left untold in the series. Oh well, I will just put the title and the front cover for the other two. If you want to know what happens, buy and read the series. As I said, it totally worth it.
The third book
The fourth book.
Sekian, semua.
